There are so many things to do in Paris for kids, no matter what their age.
From puppets to go karts to swimming.
Birds, aviaries, animals.
Wild rides, mini golf, fantasy lands.
I hope this list helps you find some fun stuff to do with your kids while visiting Paris! Click the photos to go to other pages.
The Cité des Enfants
This is a fabulous children’s museum – everything works and is really well designed. But beware, you might have to drag the kids away! There plenty for parents to do too – a friend of mine loves watching the how-to-make-a-baquette video. Buy your tickets in advance and make sure you plan around their pre-scheduled entrance. If you plan on getting there early to avoid the crowds, you might want to visit the wonderful Parc de la Villette just outside.
I love The Palais de la Découverte
Paris’ second science museum is aimed more towards younger kids under 12. Located in a beautiful 19th century building leftover from the World’s Fair, it is now decked out with all the latest technology. If you’re not squeamish, watch the video of open-heart surgery with your kids. Although everything’s in French, you’ll find that you don’t need to speak French to understand the topics and presentations.
Jardin d’Acclimatation (Garden of Acclimatisation)
Designed in the 19th century, this childrens’ park has been updated with lots of cool rides and play equipment – the adults may still feel an air of old Paris as they wander around.
Have a picnic on a barge
One of my very favourite things to do on a summery day in Paris is to take the Canal barge cruise (from Parc de la Vilette). Take some sandwiches baguettes and bottled water, and turn it into a picnic while you listen to the guide telling fabulous tales of old Paris (in English and French). The kids will LOVE cruising through the canals under the city – eerie and fabulous :-) More >>
Musée Fragonard d’AlfortVeterinary Museum
Well I haven’t been to this place, but some friends told me they found it fascinating, and so did their older kids. Founded in 1766 and is part of the Alfort Veterinary School.
