It’s only 6 more days until I fly from Sydney, Australia to Paris, and I can’t wait to be in the city I love more than any other!

I’ll be catching up with friends, meeting new ones face-to-face whom I’ve met over the internet via my website, and exploring and photographing as much as humanly possible.

Meeting the locals

There is a great organisation called Paris Greeters which is an organisation of volunteers who meet foreigners and walk them around different parts of Paris for 2-3 hours – you tell them what you’re interested in, and they take you there. I’ve booked to see a Paris Greeter in my third week (you have to book 1-2 weeks in advance), so I’ll be able to tell you all about it first-hand. What a great idea! All towns and cities should do this.

Textiles andsilk painting in Montmartre

This year I have created a Silk Painting Adventure in Paris for newbies to experienced people, which lasts for 5 nights and 6 days. I’ll be showing my students the first part of Paris I got to know really well many years ago – the fabric / textile district in Montmartre.

We’ll be visiting fabric stores to check out the beautiful silks (Lyon is the silk capital of France), as well as popping into some of the amazingly tiny haberdashery stores which line the cobblestoned streets in Montmartre which all lead to the Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart church).

I’m looking forward to sitting in a cafe at the foot of the Sacre Coeur after a morning’s shopping so we can all chat about what we’ve seen and bought in this lively, artsy corner of Paris.

What & where to eat

I’ve been reading some great reviews about cafes and restaurants which I’ll be checking out this trip, so look out for a new “Where To Eat” section on the site in July :-) This will be linked to the “What to Eat” page, too:

I’ll also be visiting some of the wonderful chocolate and pastry stores and writing reviews – yum yum, can’t wait to try some of the hot chocolate which is a specialty in a few stores!

Meet & Greet

Over this past year I’ve kept in touch with people I met in France last year, and I’ve also met some wonderful people online who either live in Paris or will be there at the same time as me.

I’d like to interview them and put their stories on the site – I think that will be something which might be of great interest to my website visitors – what do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts …

 

WHAT’S ON IN JUNE?

Here are just a few of things you can do in Paris in June – I can’t wait!

Early June : Foire St-Germain:

I love fairs, there’s always something fun happening, and the Foire St-Germain is no exception, with concerts, theatre and workshops held at various venues.

Paris Jazz Festival:

Check out the free jazz at beautiful Parc Floral.

Fete de la Musique:

If you love music then the Music Festival with free gigs held in different venues will be perfect, covering all music genres.

Gay Pride March is not to be missed, and is always fun.

Paris Cinema:

Do you love films? This is Paris’ film festival where you can attend premieres, tributes and view restored films at lots of great venues.
